Designed to offer reliable, gentle protection, this lightweight fleece helps create the perfect microclimate for healthy plant growth—keeping warmth in and pests out.
Crafted from 17gsm spun-bonded polypropylene, this fleece is breathable, water-permeable, and light enough to place directly over your plants without causing damage. It allows sunlight and rain to reach your crops while offering a physical barrier against harsh winds, spring frosts, and unwelcome visitors like birds or butterflies.
At 1 metre wide and 16 metres long, this roll is ideal for covering rows of seedlings, vegetable beds, or flowering borders. It’s also great for wrapping individual plants or using over cloche hoops. The fabric is easy to cut to size, so you can tailor it perfectly to your specific needs, whether you’re wrapping a single tomato plant or protecting an entire raised bed.
To secure your fleece in place, we recommend using fleece or fabric pegs, especially in exposed or windy locations. These can be found in our Garden Basics range under "Garden Pegs," and are available in both plastic and wire varieties.
Using fleece is a tried-and-true method for improving germination and hardening off young plants. It helps trap warmth close to the soil, giving seeds and seedlings a head start while protecting against cold snaps that can wipe out early growth. When used over crops like carrots, lettuce, or brassicas, it also offers excellent protection from pests like cabbage root fly and aphids.
Best of all, our fleece is reusable. With a little care, it’ll last through several seasons—just lift it during warm spells to avoid overheating, and fold it away once no longer needed.
