Description
The Curcuma Al Siam Splash is a symbol for the Asian nature and culture. It can often be seen in countries such as Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and India. The plant is also called the Thai Tulip, due to its beautiful pink flowers. Furthermore, the herb of several Curcuma species has been an important element of the Indian medical science for centuries long. Nowadays, the herb is still used very often in a lot of dishes. Unfortunately, this plant Curcuma will not produce the herb, but the plant is still very appealing to have indoors! This Curcuma can flower from June until September. Actually, the flowers are not true flowers but coloured leaves, meant to attract insects.
Care
The sunlight in the rain forests of Southeast Asia is a lot brighter and therefore the Curcuma in the Netherlands likes to be in a place with a lot of sunlight. For example, a window frame is an ideal place for the Curcuma. Do keep an eye on the plant during the summer months, as the leaves can burn. In that case, move the plant temporarily to a more shady spot. Above 15 °C, the plant could even stand outside! The Curcuma likes a moist potting soil, so do not let it dry out. Eventually, the Curcuma can grow up to 150-200 cm! Furthermore, the Curcuma Al Siam Splash is non-toxic, so ideal if you have pets.
Size
The plants have a height of 70-90cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 19cm.
